66613 passes Ince & Elton on a gloriously hot June 11th 07with the 12:13 6F02 Ellesmere Port-Fiddlers Ferry Power Station coal. This, and the corresponding afternoon coal with 4 passenger trains per day is the only traffic on this once busy line. Not so long ago 15+ trains a day were coming through here from the vast `Shell` plant at Stanlow. All `rail` services were lost early this century and all goes by road!

57308 `Tin-Tin` storms round the bend towards Helsby station on the glorious evening of May 29th 07 with 6J37 the 13:29 Carlisle-Chirk log train which passed by some 1hr 5mins early before its booked time!  Cheshire  (917)
57310 races past Abergele on March 17th 08 with the 09:00 London Euston-Holyhead and was `screaming` in fine EMD 645 style!  North Wales  (847)

    North Wales
Images`s taken on the main lines and branches, to Holyhead, Wrexham etc. Still a reasonable amount of variety with loco-hauled passenger trains fron Arriva Trains Wales and Wrexham & Shropshire. Freight comes from DBSW,DRS and COLAS RAIL. Things are looking gloomy though with the ending of FLHH stone from Penmaenmawr and the announcement that the RTZ factory on Anglesey is to close soon!
    Cheshire
Photographs from the `green` county of Cheshire. Nearest part to me is Ellesmere Port and the West Cheshire line through Helsby to Chester. Plenty of `traction variety`still to be had with passenger and freight with Acton Bridge & Warrington being the main centre`s with EWS,DRS,COLAS,GBRf,FASTLINE,FREIGHTLINER and the occasional ADVENZA freight.
    The Wirral,Liverpool & Merseyside
A large county with the borough of Wirral being a mini county in itself, and the rest of Merseyside to the boundries of North Wales, Cheshire, Lancashire etc. Plenty of freight action in Liverpool to/from the docks but none,as yet, on the Wirral other than the EMU stock moves to/from Birkenhead depot!
    Shropshire
The lush agricultural county that is Shropshire. Now one of the most interesting places to photograph trains with the introduction of class 67 hauled services to London and hopefully soon the second W.A.G. `Premier Express` from Cardiff to Holyhead with Arriva liveried class 57/3`s. Lots of freight to with Logs,Steel,Coal etc and a mecca for Loco-Hauled railtours passing through the area!
    Preserved Mainline Steam
Kettle`s out for a bit of thrash to blow away those cob webs! With the numbers of main line registered loco`s seemingly lower than ever before it is difficult to broaden this collection without repeating shots, so bear with me!
    South Manchester
Manchester and surrounding area`s! Home of the `dreaded` united( urrrrrgh) football club! Once a fantastic variety of traction when i lived there, but now alas all units!
    Derbyshire & The Peak District
The Peak District and associated railway`s! Concentrating mainly on the Midland Main line arround Chesterfield and the Peaks arround Peak Forest etc.
    Then & Now
Exactly what it say`s on the tin! A `comparison` collection just to show the mindless waste (in many of the shots) that various governments have made of our one busy and proud railway system! I am looking for images of the Mickle Trafford-Helsby West Cheshire Junction line in the days when it was operational. Please contact for details.
    Lancashire
Pictures from the picturesque county of Lancashire with the `hotspots` of Preston and Lancaster and popular destinations such as Morecambe and of coarse Blackpool. Also the northern point of the Merseyrail network at Ormskirk.
    Cumbria
The Cumbrian Coast, West Coast Main Line, Settle-Carlisle and associated branches in this picturesque of Northern counties!
    Staffordshire
A large county so with myself and help from a few friends this should evolve into quite a collection. The `preserved` North Staffs Railway is also to be covered.
    Scotland
The `whole` of Scotland in one collection! Plenty of variety with both passenger and freight trains, and of coarse, the most spectacular scenary in the world!
    Mid-Wales
Basically this is just the Cambrian lines only to Pwlhelli and Aberystwyth and the Central Wales route. Once an area with many railways alas now just the ones mentioned here! Hope to add some archive shots and up-to-date digital images as things progress.
    Yorkshire
Covering all the Yorkshire counties in one collection here to make it easier to view.
    East Anglian Region
Railway`s of East Anglia covering Norfolk & Suffolk, the main lines, branches and preserved railways.
    Devon & Cornwall
The south west counties of including Devon &Cornwall, the holiday `hot spots` of the UK.
    North & East Manchester
Lines radiating from Manchester heading North and East. A few slide scans here and hoping to add some new images when i get the chance.
    Railway Allsorts!
A bit of allsorts really, that don`t fit in any other collection. Artifacts, People, disused lines etc.
    London
Photo`s from the capital of the UK with it`s world famous railway stations!
    Wiltshire
Plenty of variety from this county for both passenger and freight, with most operators adding colour to the scene! The `hot spots` of Westbury and Swindon being notable!
    Sussex Counties
East & West Sussex in the `sunny` south!
    Berkshire
Another county with loads to offer in the way of freight action with varried passenger action too. A few `centrpoints` as well with Reading being a `hot spot` of activity!
    Hampshire
Lovely county in the leafy South with rolling coutryside and plenty in the way of passenger and freight action with different operators providing to the already colourfull scene!
    Dorset
The main line`s of the county and of course the `Award Winning` Swanage Railway with it`s mix of steam and diesel traction.
    Gloucestershire
Fantastic scenary, rolling countryside and plenty of trains on the main lines and of course the preserved GWR.
    South Wales
The whole of South Wales in one collection still a mecca for freight activity esspecially around Newport/Cardiff etc and good passenger variety with loco hauled trains also, from Arriva Trains Wales to Holyhead and First Great Western to Taunton.
    `Steptoe`s Railway Yard!`
Pictures of loco`s who have had their day. Some are lucky and go in to preservation or back on the main line, others are not and out comes the `torch`!
    Somerset
Plenty of variety in this `southern` county from the main lines with some major preserved lines, the West Somerset, East Somerset and the fledgling S&D at Midsomer Norton on the old Bath-Bournemouth route. How long before a 7F pounds up the Mendips again! Some pictures welcome of this exiting project!!!!!
    `Homepage` Feature Images!
Here are the images that have appeared on the site`s `Main Page`,is your`s there! ALL IMAGES ARE COPYRIGHT OF THE PHOTOGRAPHER!
    The Isle of Wight
Fantastic island with it`s ex London Transport tube stock and preserved line also! Great scenary, usually great weather so a hotspot for tourists!
